Jeffrey George is the founder of a former celebrated clinic linked with hormone replacement therapy. The clinic was named “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Jeffrew George was accused in illegal distribution of anabolic steroids. As it was notices by investigators, he started tosell controlled substances through his clinic illegally. But in fact Jeffrey George took part in illegal activity of pain clinics established in Florida. He sold steroids via internet.
George and his twin brother Chris were leaders of a pain clinic activity. They earned 40 million dollars due to illegal sales of oxycodone and other analgesics during 2 years. This resulted in their accusations. Jeffrey George faced also a murder charge because a client of his clinic had died due to overdosing.
Jeffrey George hid his illegal operation with the help of his clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Anabolic steroids were advertising on the internet and in different magazines linked with fitness as a part of therapy conducted by the clinic.
It was not the first arrest of George due to steroids. He was arrested for possession of anabolic steroids , intending to sell them in 2003. This person was sentenced to 8 months in jail. Then Jeffrey George was involved in illegal distribution of anabolic steroids, intending to bypass Florida’s laws which allowed clinics to prescribe and sell steroids legally. This person didn’t have any medical education. But he established the clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation” and employed some doctors that prescribed steroids without any fear. One of his employees was Daniel Hauser. This doctor got 5, 000 dollars per week for prescriptions of steroids for clients of George’s clinic.
Since steroids were sold per internet and customers were far from the clinic, they had to perform some tests in clinics that were located near to them. Then they filled results of lab tests in the certain blanks and sent to the “South Beach Rejuvenation” per email. Hauser wrote them prescriptions.
Numerous sales consultants of the clinic used anabolic steroids too. Moreover, they purchased large amounts of steroids with prescriptions and distributed them on the side. The sales consultants also advised their clients how to apply and administrate together different steroids in order to reach better results in bodybuilding and sports.
Chris, George’s brother, helped his friend, Chris Hutson, financially to open a clinic to sell steroids. Thus, “LA Health and Rejuvenation” was established.
Cynthia Cadet and Robert Meek were two doctors that were employed by Hutson to prescribe anabolic steroids. They got 1, 000 dollars per week.
The persons that established “South Beach Rejuvenation” and “LA Health and Rejuvenation” and physicians hired by them were indicted on some charges, including illegal sales of anabolic steroids and prescriptions over internet.

Do actors take steroids?
Steroids are definitively taken by various actors. You may see dramatical changes in physique of actors in short period of time. For example, a certain actor has played a role in a film, being quite thin, then, after short time he plays a role with induced muscle mass. How can actors enhance their muscle size in short period of time? The answer is evident. They take anabolic steroids. But actors deny that they take performance-enhancing drugs.
Jason Momoa in “Conan the Barbarian”, Chris Hemsworth in “Thor” and Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger” increased their muscles dramatically to play certain roles. Undoubtedly, this factor caused questions about intake of steroids. But the actors refused to answer the questions linked with administration of drugs that have performance-enhancing effects.
As it is known, Jason Momoa induced his muscles by 30 pounds to play Conan. An actress, Rose McGowan, that also played in “Conan the Barabarian” pointed out that Momoa reached that results not because of steroids. Jason Momoa said that he desired to correspond to a Frank Frazzeta painting without steroid use. It would be ideally, according to the words of this actor. But he mentioned that our world and life were not ideal. Momao claimed that he had trained a lot. Moreover, this actor followed a strict diet. He ate broccoli, peanut butter, yams and chicken breast continually.
As for Chris Hemsworth, he induced his muscle mass by 20 pounds in order to play Thor. Chris Hemsworth confirmed that he had eaten a lot. Chris Hemsworth mentioned that he had eaten and he seemed as if he were busy with an important thing. Chris Hemsworth noted that it had been quite difficult to eat, when he was not hungry. Furthermore, he had to eat large amounts of food. According to his words, it was too tiring.
It is interesting to notice that Hemsworth never lifted weights before playing his role in “Thor”. Couldn’t you find this factor unreal without intake of steroids? Nevertheless, he pointed out that he hadn’t administrated anabolic steroids.
Chris Evens also induced muscle mass essentially to play Steve Rogers in the film “Captain America: The First Avenger”. He claimed that he had enhanced muscles due to trainings and a strict diet.

Are blood tests for HGH effective?
NFL players don’t trust methods used by the WADA. Why did the distrust appear? Let try to find out the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) intends to test players of the National Football League for HGH. However the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, certain skeptic thoughts linked with the grade of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be only a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.
Several experts that are not related to the WADA activity directly do not agree with the methods utilized by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a main chronicler of intake of steroids in American football, confirms that the NFL players are skeptic to the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skeptic attitude of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, points out that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH should be transparent. The WADA utilizes the HGH isoform ratio test introduced by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to mention that according to some specialists, the HGH isoform ratio test doesn’t have scientific basis. It is not trustworthy. The Director of Anti-Doping Research claims that this test is not good for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test that can be utilized by the WADA to determine sportspersons that apply HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method which is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t use the method of Sonksen to determine users of HGH.
According to Sonksen, workers of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not understand the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by specialists, the HGH biomarker test is better than HGH isoform test.
Although scientists confirm about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t want to to utilize the HGH biomarker test.

Some new drugs will soon replace anabolic steroids
Scientists intend to find alternative drugs to anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. They claim that sportsmen may soon have another way to increase muscles. The Salk Institute has pointed out that the efforts of the specialists have got success. Recent studies have displayed that inactivation of a genome regulator which is known as “NCoR1” leads to increase of muscle size, strength and endurance. The leader of the researches conducted in the Salk Institute, Ronald Evans, confirms that this knowledge can lead to development of several new medicines that will benefit not only for athletes and bodybuilders that train but also for people that are sedentary.
The specialists of the Salk Institute notice about people who can’t do physical exercises because they have got different health troubles, such as diabetes, frailty, immobility and other physical or psychological aspects that cause sedentarism. The specialists intend to develop some specific medicines which could benefit for sedentary persons so, as exercises benefit for healthy individuals. Now they experiment with sedentary mice.
As for anabolic steroids, they may cause some muscle-building effects in sedentary people. But people that administrate anabolic steroids should train and alter their diets to reach more significant results.
If new preparations which suppress NCoR1 are developed by scientists successfully, they will cause essential changes in sedentary individuals. But could you imagine which positive effects will be caused in athletes?
But there is also an essential difference between anabolic steroids and NCoR1 suppression. It is known that anabolic steroids lead to unwanted results; some of them may be quite dangerous for health and even life-threatening. Moreover, anabolic steroids can cause serious undesirable effects especially in females. But as for NCoR1 suppression, specialists assure that drugs which will suppress this genome regulator will not cause side reactions.
There is an article about NCoR1 suppression which has got the following title: “NCoR1 Is a Conserved Physiological Modulator of Muscle Mass and Oxidative Function”. It represents results of different experiments that enrolled mice and nematodes. The experiments have displayed that NCoR1 suppression benefits for muscle size very much. The mice with suppression of this genome regulator had more increased muscles and ran faster than others.
Unfortunately, the mice with NCoR1 suppression were not compared with the mice that were given anabolic steroids. If these two types of mice were compared, the results of the experiments would be very valuable for further researches and conclusions.
It is possible to mention that elder individuals and people who suffer of muscle dystrophy will be soon involved in studies to find out positive effects of new potential medicines.

Why did Carl Fletcher receive 4 year suspension from competitions?
Carl Fletcher, a shot-putter from Britain, can’t take part in competitions 4 years. The ban was claimed by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) because he was charged with trafficking anabolic steroids. Carl Fletcher sold more than 15 types of steroids. It was determined that HGH, testosterone and Trenbolone belonged to the products which had been supplied by this sportsperson. The Liverpool Crown Court sentenced this athlete to 9 month imprisonment.
It is interesting to note that Carl Fletcher never tested positive for any steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs by the WADA. Don’t you find this fact strange? What could it mean? It is possible to suggest that methods applied by anti-doping agencies are not effective enough to catch consumers of steroids that participate in international sport competitions.
The WADA and the UKAD put many efforts to release sports from cheating and intake of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. These agencies also collaborate with law enforcement agencies in order to achieve the needed results.
The UKAD claimed that anti-doping officials would be allowed to share information about names of sportsmen that used anabolic steroids.
This case showed that the collaboration between the UKAD and law enforcement is very effective. It proved that law enforcement organizations could help greatly to catch the sportsmen who use anabolic steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. It is difficult to overestimate the role of these agencies in catching of cheaters in sports. Andy Parkinson, the manager of the UKAD, confirms that if law enforcement organizations work together with the UKAD, the results will be excellent.
The Merseyside Police and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) investigated a certain case connected with intake of steroids by officers at the St. Helens Basic Command Unit. It was found out that Fletcher had been involved in the illegal business conducted by his uncle and cousin. That’ why Fletcher was suspended from competitions till November 8, 2015.

French athletes support Spanish criticism towards a French former tennis player
Sportspersons from Spain criticized the French former tennis player, Yannick Noah. This man wrote an amazing article “La Potion Magique” which was published in the French newspaper “Le Monde”. Yannick Noah confirms in his work that Spanish sportsmen have several advantages and win competitions because they apply anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. He claims that Spain has got more loyal attitude to intake of steroids than France; that’s why sportspersons from Spain have more induced muscle mass and have success in competitions.
Rafael Nadal, a celebrated Spanish athlete, points out that Yannick Noah wrote totally foolish statements and comments in the article. He is surprised how Noah’s work was allowed to be published in the newspaper. Rafael Nadalthat won 10 Grand Slam titles claims that Yannick Noah doesn’t write such thoughts that are worthy to be published. According to the sportsman from Spain, works of the former tennis player from France don’t public attention.
David Ferrer, a famous tennis player from Spain, confirms that Yannick Noah is an ignorant man. Ferrer can’t understand how a man like Noah who was a professional tennis player and knows the way sport works is able to say such things.
Tennis is not the only kind of sports in which Spain won competitions. Basketball players from Spain won the 2011 FIBA European Championships. Alberto Contador, the Spanish cyclist, won the 2010 Tour de France and the 2011 Giro d’Italia.
Josep Guardiola, a Spanish football manager, says that Yannick Noah must prove, if he points out that sportspersons from Spain apply steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. But if he is not able to prove it, he must not write about it.
Athletes from France support attitude of Spanish sportspersons towards Yannick Noah. They criticize him too. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a well-known tennis player from France, David Douillet, the Sports minister of France, and Frederic Moncassin, the manager of the cycling Team Type 1 belong also to that people who don’t support the statements of Noah.

Manufacture of controlled substances and child abuse in New Mexico
Ruben Jaramillo, a person in New Mexico, is accused in child abuse. Police invaded his house and discovered that his house was an underground lab which had produced anabolic steroids. According to New Mexico laws, anybody can be accused in child abuse, if he\she even only allows children to be there, where the chemical compounds or proper equipment utilized for manufacture or keeping of these banned preparations are present.
When the Albuquerque Police Department’s Eastside Narcotics Team invaded the house, they saw that there was an underground lab in it. Police oficcers found several kilograms of raw powder for production of steroids, such substances, as benzyl alcohol and sunflower oil, more than 150 vials of the controlled substances. Several vials had following labels: “Testosterone Cypionate”. Furthermore, police reported that information connected with prices, quantities and types of steroids had been recovered too. Chemical compounds were in various rooms around the house, including the bedroom and the kitchen.
Ruben’s 2 daughters of 11 and 13 years old were at home, when police raided the house.
It is known that New Mexico is not the only state where the production of anabolic steroids may be defined as child abuse. At least 10 other states have got similar laws. Such laws are established not without any reasons.
Chemical ingredients can be toxic. They can influence on children’s health too negatively. It is necessary also to remember that there is a risk of fires and explosions of certain chemical substances. Parents who manufacture anabolic steroids at home do not care of their children’s health. The children can face great dangers in such cases. How can children live in a methamphetamine lab and avoid dangers?
Parents that only take steroids differ from those that manufacture them, especially at home.
This is the first situation in Albuquerque, when production of anabolic steroids is treated as child abuse by prosecutors.

The media asks George Laraque to identify names of NHL’s players that take steroids
Georges Laraque described his life in a book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy”. He desired to tell about his life to others. Georges Laraque noticed also about intake of anabolic steroids in the National Hockey League (NHL). These aspects about administration of steroids in NHL seemed to be very interesting. The Canadian press published only the quotes linked with this eternal subject. The rest of the book was neglected.
Georges Laraque pointed out in an interview that he had never taken performance-enhancing drugs. Furthermore, he noted that he hadn’t mentioned any names of the players that had utilized steroids. The book is indeed about life of the author.
The author notices about certain ways to determine whether a hockey player applies steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs or not. Here are 2 ways mentioned by him:
1. A hockey player who gains more than 40 pounds in a short period of time must be using steroids.
2. A hockey player that reduces his weight significantly in short period of time in order to correspond to the rules of the Winter Olympics must be utilizing performance-enhancing drugs.
Undoubtedly, all sportsmen, including hockey players, know that they will be tested for steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs by the WADA. That’s why they stop using the forbidden preparations certain time before the Olympics. It helps them to escape from risk of testing positive for these medicines.
But this is not the main idea of the book. George Laraque desired to display that a child is required to put incredible efforts to become an excellent professional sportsperson enduring racial intolerance and bullying. But the press doesn’t pay attention on this subject. The press wants to publish stories linked with intake of steroids by sportsmen.
It was not the purpose of the author to to make public the names of the hockey players who took steroids.
Of course, the media asks George Laraque to name steroid users of the NHL.

The illegal activity of a large-scale underground lab was stopped in Lebanon (Ohio)
An investigation that lasted 2 years detected and shut a large-scale lab related to steroids. The investigation was led under name “Operation Bulk Up”. It was a well-planned activity of the proper authorities in Lebanon (Ohio).
As it was found out, a dealer of steroids distributed these medicines to members of the Cardio Strength Center of the YMCA. So, when the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office was informed about it, the investigations began. The law enforcement made a decision to send an officer that had to pretend being a member of the YMCA to the steroid dealer. Major John Burke, the leader of the Warren County Drug Task Force, was chosen for this goal.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA, was the only person at this association who knew about the investigation. He was able to keep all details he knew about the activity of the Drug Task Force in secret. So, an immense steroid distribution organization was detected.
32 persons participated in the illegal activity related to distribution of steroids. They were accused in corrupt activities, trafficking and possession of steroids. The investigation intended to detect only producers and distributors of steroids. Although the investigation didn’t focalize on clients that bought these products, the officials mentioned that professional sportsmen and bodybuilders belonged to the customers.
The law enforcement seized 600,000 dollars which were considered to be a profit from distribution of steroids, 300, 000 dollars in cash and vehicles and 100 weapons.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA talked openly to media about the results of the investigation. He was not afraid to note that he had taken part in this activity to catch the illegal organization. Caroll told that he was very glad to find out about the positive results.
It is necessary to note that it was not easy to detect the criminal organization. The undercover agent had to put efforts to buy steroids from a dealer. As a result of the investigation, an underground lab in Tennessee was detected. It produced steroids in injectable form. The raw was imported from China. The leaders of selling were Ronald Herbort and Matthew Geraci.
According to Major Burke, direct interactions between distributors and clients were avoided in this organization. There was a specific organized locker system that helped to avoid direct interactions.
However this illegal activity linked with production and selling of steroids was well-organized, the law-enforcement could detect it to shut the laboratory. The result of the investigation displays that it can be confirmed the following statement: if law enforcement gives chief priority to such operations, positive results can be reached.

Players of the NFL express skeptic thoughts related to the WADA anti-doping tests
Players of the NFL mistrust methods applied by the WADA. Why did the mistrust appear? Let try to find out the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) made a decision to test players of the National Football League for HGH. Althogh the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, certain skeptic arguments related to the level of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be only a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
Certain scientists who are not connected with the WADA activity directly don’t agree with the methods used by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a main chronicler of administration of steroids in American football, assures that the NFL players do not trust the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skepticism of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, points out that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH must be transparent. The WADA applies the HGH isoform ratio test elaborated by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to notice that according to several specialists, the method of this test doesn’t have scientific basis. It is not trustworthy. The Director of Anti-Doping Research says that this test is not good for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test that may be utilized by the WADA to determine athletes that use HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method which is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t applies this method to identify users of HGH.
According to Sonksen, workers of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not understand the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved scientifically, the HGH biomarker test is better than HGH isoform test.
However scientists notice about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t desire to to use the other method.

Why did many athletes forfeit their medals they won?
All sprinters in 100 meter final at the 2000 Sydney Olympics were charged with administration of anabolic steroids. Can you imagine it? Although many things were done to prevent administration of performance-enhancing drugs in sport, it is not free from these drugs.
BALCO founder Victor Conte said in an interview about administration of steroids by the sprinters in 100 meter final at the 2000 Olympics. Maurice Greene, Ato Boldon, Obadele Thompson, Darren Campbell, Dwain Chambers, Aziz Zakari, Jon Drummond and Kim Collins applied performance-enhancing drugs.
Victor Conte confirms that Dwain Chambers, the British sportsperson, used steroids. Conte supplied these preparations to Chambers in 2003. As it was found out, Chambers took tetrahydrogestrinone.
Maurice Green, the American sprinter, administrated steroids, testosterone cream, EPO and certain stimulants. Angel Guillermo Heredia reported that he had provided these products to Maurice Green. But it is important to mention that this American athlete began to purchase these preparations from Heredia after he had received 2 medals in Olympics.
Although the founder of the BALCO doesn’t know about all nuances linked with possession and administration of steroids by these all sportspersons that took part in the Sydney Olympics, he assures that performance-enhancing drugs had an immense role at the women’s 100 meter final of the 2003 Championship in France. Conte sold steroids to five of the finalists.
Kelly White, the winner, got the banned drugs from Conte too. After it was found out that she had used Modafinil, she lost her gold medals. Later Kelly White said that she had applied tetrahydrogestrinone and the blood booster EPO.
Conte wasn’t surprised about the progress of anti-doping agencies related to steroids in sport.

Why must not Kathy Jager compete?
Kathy Jager, a celebrated sportswoman, tested positive for anabolic steroids at the 2011 USA National Masters Outdoor Track And Field Championships in Berea. That’s why this sportswoman was banned from participation in competitions. Kathy Jager can’t compete till the age of 70. This decision was made by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
This athlete applied steroids because these medicines were recommended by the doctor to stabilize her hormone balance. According to the establishments of World Anti-Doping Agency, sportsmen may use steroids for medical needs and participate in competitions, if they have got a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). But as it is known, Kathy Jager didn’t have a TUE that could allow her to utilize these drugs without being banned from competitions.
It is necessary to mention that Kathy Jager doesn’t treat administration of anabolic steroids seriously.
This athlete tested positive for methyltestosterone at the 1999 World Association of Veteran Athletes World Championships in Gateshead (Great Britain) after she had broken world records in running of 100 meters. That competition was between athletes of 55-59 years old. It was the first time she was banned for application of banned substances. Now it was her second time.
As it is known, this sportsperson utilized EstraTest HS that contained esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone in a tablet.
Kathy Jager pointed out that she had administrated EstraTest for medical needs. But the World Masters Association didn’t believe and didn’t allow her to take part in competitions.
This case caused numerous debates. Several people condemned her for intake of banned preparations, others defended her.
When she was banned the first time, she administrated steroids in order to prevent menopausal problems. The drugs were prescribed by her physician. Then she discontinued taking recommended drugs and began to administrate herbal preparations.
So, this athlete must not participate in competitions till the age of 70 years old. If she had received a TUE, she could compete. But nobody knows whether the WADA will give her a TUE or not.
