The president of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White tries to defend the anti-doping program of this organization. According to the UFC, their strictest testing program for steroids is in North America. Is it actually true? Sometimes it seems that only foolish fighters are caught taking prohibited drugs by the UFC.
There are some organizations that criticize the drug-testing program of the UFC harshly. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) belong to chief organizations that criticize anti-doping program of the UFC. But why do they do it? Of course, they fight for own interests. They put efforts to manage steroid testing in all professional as well as amateur sport leagues in the whole world. It is not a secret that steroid testing has become a profitable business. Since they haven’t tested fighters for prohibited medications, they have lost much money.
But there are also some actual problems connected with the UFC anti-doping policy which should be observed. The CEO of the WADA Travis Tygart announces that drug testing of the UFC isn’t effective. It goes without saying that the WADA possesses the best anti-doping program. The UFC drug-testing policy can’t be even compared with that of the UFC. The CEO of the WADA confirms that the UFC put efforts to look better than they are actually. The CEO of the WADA confirms that it is quite ironically that the UFC defends own drug-testing policy and doesn’t agree to have the same or just similar principles as the WADA has.
Major League Baseball did a great mistake, proclaiming that steroids represent a huge problem in this sport. So, it was destroyed good public impression about baseball. As for the National Football League, it was created impression that their drug-testing policy has been very effective.
A question appears: Does Dana White have ability to display that there is no steroid problem in the UFC?
