Alberto Contador, a Spanish professional cyclist, that won the 2010 Tour de France tested positive for Clenbuterol. Quantities of this substance in his body were very small. They were 40 times less than its minimum standard of the detection ability. But the WADA lacks tolerance completely when it comes to this medication. Any quantity of this medicine detected in an athlete’s body leads to ban.
This cyclist proclaims that the positive for Clenbuterol is caused by meat contaminated with this substance. Some experts believe him, since the amount uncovered in his urine are extremely small. Nonetheless, the cyсlist Alberto Contadorreceived a ban.
Douwe de Boer, anti-doping expert of Contador’s defense team, proclaims that he becomes disappointed in the WADA’s decision day by day. This expert notes that he seems as if the WADA were happy to ban innocent sportspeople but not to catch cheaters.
Zhao Jian of China’s Anti-Doping Agency notes that a person may test positive from contaminated meat. It isn’t just anyone’s opinion. This statement has scientific basis. The expert Detlef Thieme from Germany supports this statement as well. He proclaims that nobody can doubt about it.
Wilhelm Schaenzer of the Laboratoty for Doping Analysis at the German Sports University in Cologne proclaims that it is a real problem that they do not have ability to investigate and define doping clearly.

China’s National Anti-Doping Laboratory announces that experiments led by them have shown that consumption of pork meat containing Clenbuterol can cause positives for this substance.
In spite of these affirmations, there are skeptic persons that think that Alberto Contador has used forbidden medications.
Skeptic attitude to the cyclist Alberto Contador can be explained by the factor that application of EPO, anabolic steroids, HGH and other preparations which cause performance-enhancing effects is widespread in cycling. The former cyclists Floyd Landis and Bernhard Kohl that have been caught by the WADA are sure that all cyclists use performance-enhancing drugs. The chemist Patrick Arnold has the same opinion.
