Why aren’t athletes usually caught using metenolone?

The Belarusian shot putter Nadzeya Ostapchuk won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games. But she lost the award because she failed a drug test. She provided two samples. The substance metenolone presented in both urine samples.
If you read news related to steroid use in sports, you must know that competitive athletes and bodybuilders are usually caught using other steroids and/or doping products. But when it comes to Nadzeya Ostapchuk, she was caught administering metenolone. It is unusual, according to statements of anti-doping officers. What does this prohibited preparation represent? Why don’t athletes usually administer this drug for increase of performance?
Metenolone is an anabolic steroid. It has weak androgenic features. It acts like testosterone, enhancing muscle mass and adding energy.
Although this medicine has only weak androgenic nature, it leads to development of sex male characteristics in females. Women who administer this remedy may face common signs of virilization: the voice becomes deeper; excessive hair grows on the face and on other parts of the body; etc.
This drug can be administered orally or injectionally.
Metenolone (Methenolone) benefits greatly, when it is applied by athletes during their trainings. It is not taken during competitions. It doesn’t work, if it is applied only on the day of a competition.
It is also confirmed that it is easy to detect those that take this anabolic steroid.
Side reactions of Metenolone (Methenolone) hinge on measures that are administered. They include water retention, elevated calcium level in the blood, bone growth, hirsutism, acne, male-pattern baldness, menstrual problems, increased libido, etc.
So, if you see a female athlete who has deep voice and excessive hair growth on the body, you may accuse her of steroid use. Actually, it is wrong because these problems may occur also in those women that don’t take any steroids. But sometimes these effects display that certain female athletes take preparations which have androgenic features.
