As a result of the investigation “Operacion Skype”, Dr. Beltran was arrested

Mossos d’Esqudra and Spain’s Policia Nacional conducted a steroid investigation that resulted in arrest of 10 persons who were involved in a steroid ring. These persons supplied top amateur and professional sportspeople and even Olympic athletes with anabolic steroids, HGH, EPO, CERA and other related products.  The operation was called “Operacion Skype”. The steroid ring was settled in Barcelona.
The investigation was originally related to the professional cyclist David Garcia Dapena that tested positive for EPO after the 2010 Vuelta a Espana. It was claimed that David Garcia Dapena had high hematocrit levels which indicated about administration of EPO.
Garcia didn’t deny application of the forbidden preparation. He collaborated with the police officers. The cyclist acknowledged that he had purchased drugs with performance-enhancing effects from the physician Alberto Beltran Nino.
It was determined that Beltran had been the leader of an organization related to sophisticated doping. This organization supplied cyclists and other sportspeople with forbidden medications. It was also defined that certain sportspersons who took part in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2010 Vuelta a Espana, the 2009 Tour du Portugal and the 2012 Spanish Athletics Championships belonged to the group of persons who got steroids and other banned drugs from this doping organization.
It was even earlier supposed that Beltran supplied athletes with steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs and taught them how to avoid being caught. He was arrested in Italy after he was caught driving his car that was full of steroids and other doping medications.
Nuno Ribeiro, a Portuguese professional cyclist, accused the physician Beltran in injecting him with banned medications after he tested positive for CERA in 2009.
Jose Luis Blanco, a sprinter, assisted in the steroid investigation that had been led against Beltran after this sprinter tested positive for EPO at the 2012 Spanish Athletics Championships.
Beltran moved to Bahrain in 2009. Since that time the doctor had no any direct contact with any sportsperson.
Nevertheless, the police believe that he has established a team of intermediaries in different countries. They have bought steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs and supplied top sportspeople with them.
Beltran was detained in Madrid in March 2012 by police officers. He was caught having AICAR and TB-500.
However no any sportsperson has tested positive for these drugs, it is suspected that some sportspersons have intended to use these medications.
